bettermarks GmbH

A portfolio project of BonVenture II GmbH & Co. KG: Founded in 2008, this Berlin-based company aims to improve children´s skills in mathematics, regardless of social or economic background. bettermarks has developed and runs interactive online learning system for school mathematics that makes it easy for pupils of all ages and from all types of school to learn at home, just as if they were in the classroom. bettermarks is used both by pupils for private learning and by teachers in school mathematics courses. Using the free basic version for schools, teachers can produce and mark tests, homework and individual exercises that the pupils carry out online. The bettermarks system offers a chance for all pupils to improve their skills. Also available is an affordable subscription version ("Learning Center") which helps pupils and parents fill in the gaps in their knowledge themselves, without having to resort to the expense of private tuition.

DialogMuseum GmbH - The Dialogmuseum

A portfolio project of BonVenture I GmbH & Co. KG: The 'Dialogue Museum' is an innovative venture that was launched in Frankfurt in 2005. As a platform for prejudice-free encounter, this model project opens up new perspectives for the handicapped and disadvantaged. The exhibition is kept in complete darkness – sighted visitors, now 'blind', are led through the rooms by blind or visually handicapped guides. In this way, the handicapped can develop their skills, ready for a transfer to the world of work outside, while sighted people have the opportunity of swapping roles and sharpening their communicative skills. Visitors can also test their communicative competence by trying their hand at the games in the 'Casino for Communication'.

Flachsland Zukunftsschulen gGmbH

A portfolioproject of BonVenture II GmbH & Co. KG: Flachsland Zukunftsschulen gGmbH runs an innovative educational establishment in Hamburg for children from the age two up to the end of their schooling. Its secular-humanistic concept blends the traditions of progressive teaching with the latest findings from neurobiological and educational research. Through project work and a process of learning by experience children can pursue their own individual pathway through school. Democracy, transparency and participation are fundamental principles in the organisation of the school and in the content of the education, so that from an early age the children learn to take an active part in shaping the world around them. The Flachsland Zukunftsschule aims to be an inclusive school, where all children are welcome whatever their social or cultural background.

hand in gAG

hand in gAG is a portfolio project of BonVenture II GmbH & Co. KG: hand in gAG aims to give a chance to youth who are either delinquent or at a high risk of becoming one. It is dedicated to preventing street violence by reintegrating young male serial offenders into society. Its 'Work and Box' programme for young offenders, launched in 2003, uses the sport of boxing as a therapeutic tool within its broader project of educational training and intensive social support. 80% of the programme's participants, manage to enter/re-enter the job market. Hand in trains so-called multipliers (street workers, teachers, etc.) to become a 'Work and Box mentors'. In the area of violence prevention, hand in gAG partners with Munich's TSV 1860 football club to help disadvantaged school children find a vocation. At the primary school and kindergarten level, hand in gAG runs a 'Peace at School' programme, which works with children, teachers and parents to prevent violence by resolving mutual conflicts.

Chancenwerk e.V.

Chancenwerk is a portfolio project of BonVenture II GmbH & Co. KG: Chancenwerk e.V. was formed to support disadvantaged students and schoolchildren of all cultural backgrounds, helping them succeed at school and develop as individuals. The guiding principal behind the organisation is that good role models have a positive effect on young people´s path through the education system. Based on this idea, Chancenwerk e.V. has developed an innovative, self-supporting mentor programme whereby older school pupils receive two private coaching sessions per week from students and in return they make themselves available to help younger schoolchildren with their homework. The younger pupils pay 10 euros per month for 16 sessions of homework assistance. This give-and-take approach helps develop the self-confidence and social competence of all the participants, while also promoting a responsible attitude towards learning. Parents are also involved and a range of leisure projects organised to accompany the programme.

Kinderzentren Kunterbunt gGmbH

A portfolio project of BonVenture I GmbH & Co. KG: Kinderzentren Kunterbunt was set up in 1998 to provide day-care facilities for young children. The company's creches and nurseries are conveniently located close to centres of work, and oriented towards the needs of parents. For example, they offer long opening hours and an all-year-round service plus flexible booking conditions. Based in Nuremberg but with operations throughout Germany, this modern service-provider aims to help parents successfully combine work and family. All the facilities run by Kinderzentren Kunterbunt follow the same care concept, which is monitored by ongoing quality management. In-service training for employees also helps maintain this high standard of care.

Kunterbunt e.V.

A portfolio project of BonVenture gGmbH: Kunterbunt e.V., which was founded in 1994, organises leisure and travel activities across Europe for handicapped people. The activities are open to children, adolescents and adults in Germany, regardless of the type and severity of their handicap. Kunterbunt seeks to give all participants the opportunity to experience new challenges away from their everyday environments and to pursue their own interests. The programme also provides a welcome break for the families of these handicapped people. In 2005 almost 600 handicapped people took part in activities put on by Kunterbunt.

MovingIMAGE24

A portfolio project of BonVenture I GmbH & Co. KG: MovingIMAGE24 operates the video portal www.jobtv24.de. It is a highly efficient platform for job-seekers, school-leavers, young workers and students, as well as for entrepreneurs and start-ups. JobTV24 was launched in 2005 as the first German TV station with video portal dedicated to providing help and advice on finding employment and starting businesses. From the start the on-screen offering has been accompanied by a website, www.jobtv24.de, featuring interactive, cross-media services and information. Since January 2008 JobTV24 has been operating as a pure video portal.

ROCK YOUR LIFE! gGmbH

A portfolio project of BonVenture II GmbH & Co. KG. Founded in 2009 ROCK YOUR LIFE! gGmbH arranges coaching partnerships between university students and pupils at 'Hauptschulen' (lower secondary level schools). In one-to-one coaching, the specially trained students work with the schoolchildren during the last two years of their time at school, helping them formulate their dreams, goals and strengths. The idea is to motivate the children to take up a training course in a job that they are interested in. The initiative also includes a supporting network of partner companies which provide traineeships and work placements for the schoolchildren. ROCK YOUR LIFE! builds bridges between groups in society and makes a contribution to greater social mobility and equal opportunity in education. The ROCK YOUR LIFE! franchise network is made up of non-profit ROCK YOUR LIFE! organizations throughout Germany.

Violence Prevention Network e.V.

A portfolio project of BonVenture I GmbH & Co. KG: Violence Prevention Network (VPN) was created in 2005 from a grouping of experienced professionals working in the field of violence prevention and education to help young offenders who are at risk of falling under the influence of extremist groups. The aim of the network is to reduce the number of prejudice-driven violent offences committed by these young people. VPN develops and distributes appropriate teaching materials and methods, including for political education. One such is a programme entitled "Taking responsibility – Goodbye to hate and violence" which helps to reduce the number of repeat offences.
