FENECON develops lithium power storage systems for applications ranging from single-family homes to commercial, industrial and grid storage systems, also utilising used electric car batteries or spare part batteries. As part of the energy transition, the decentralised storage systems are intended to help stabilise the grid. With the open source energy management system ‘OpenEMS’, both home producers and commercial electricity producers can manage their systems.

  • CHALLENGE

    Car batteries are often stored for a long time, constantly charging and discharging. They last about 10 years in the car, then at 80% capacity, they're replaced. And then? Hazardous waste?

  • SOLUTION

    Batteries are given a "second life" after the car and a "zero life" before. The company creates energy storage systems using both old car batteries and new ones awaiting use.

  • IMPACT

    Fenecon has saved 92,000 t of CO2 thus far with 2nd life batteries reducing grid load and avoiding early recycling of used and replacement EV batteries.
